The cicadas were soon flying all over the place.  It was common to see a dozen of them on the wing at one time.  Spend any time outdoors and there were sure to be a few that lit on you, or tried to.

The cicadas are clumsy flyers.  I was sitting on the patio swilling a refreshing beverage after cutting the grass when one flew across the patio straight into the brick wall.  Thunk.  It bounced back several feet into the grass.

Clumsy though they be, they still fly fast enough to be hard to catch in a photo.  These are the best I could do.
